The Road Department was established as a result of House Bill No. 4, which required the Board of Supervisors (Board) to operate a county wide system of road administration, effective October 1989.  The Department operates under policies which have been adopted by the Board and by statutory authority in accordance with Section 65-17-1 of the Mississippi Code.

The administrative head of the Department is Road Manager George Bobo. He is appointed by the Board, and is educated and experienced in the construction and maintenance of highways, bridges, and other facets of public works responsibilities.

The Road Manager oversees the construction and maintenance of rural roads and bridges throughout rural Rankin County, Mississippi.
