| RESPONSIBILITIES |

The Sheriff's Department is the chief law enforcement agency in Rankin County. The Sheriff and his deputies respond to calls for emergency service, enforcing local ordinances, state and federal law, and maintaining a sense of tranquility by visibility in the communities they
patrol. Thus they take responsibility for the safety and well being of all
persons living in and visiting Rankin County.
