The Sheriffs Department operates twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 day a year. The administrative offices are open Monday thru Friday from 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except for State Holidays. This includes Administration, Court Services, Investigations, Juvenile Investigations etc. If you need assistance after hours or weekends just call 601-825-1480 and an officer will come to your residence or meet you at the Sheriffs Department.

Where is the Jail Entrance?
The Jail Entrance is located on the north side of the Detention Center under the catwalk that connects the detention center to the Justice Center.
Where do I park?
When coming to the sheriff’s office or detention center, parking for the public is located on the east side of the Sheriffs Office behind the RankinCountyAnnexBuilding.
Does the Sheriffs Office Post Jobs?
No, anyone interested in applying for a job with the Sheriffs Office should come by the department and pick up an application. Once the application is completed it should be turned back into the sheriff’s office with the proper attachments.
How do I get fingerprinted for backgrounds or employment?
You will need to bring the applicant fingerprint card supplied by your employer with you to the Sheriffs Office and come to the jail entrance.
Where do I take prisoners personal items?
Prisoner Personal Items can be delivered on the first Wednesday of each month. New inmates being booked into the jail may receive items any day within the first week of being booked in the jail. Packages that are being mailed will only be accepted the first week of the month. The mailing address is:

Females 0800 hrs to 1100hrs
West Pods 1100 hrs to 1400 hrs|

Second Saturday of the Month
East Pods 0800 hrs to 1100 hrs

Every Inmate will be allowed Twenty Minutes for Visitation
How do I bond someone out of jail?
There are several ways to bond a person out of jail.
Cash Bond – You would post a cash bond with the respective court in which the charges are filed.
Profession Bondsman – With this type of bond you pay a professional bonding company to put up the bond amount for you in the proper court.
First Offender Bond – This bond is used for a first time felony charge and would be filed in the Rankin County Circuit Clerks Office.
What am I allowed to bring a prisoner?
These are the only allowable items:
Five pair of underwear (boxers or briefs)
Five white t-shirts with NO pockets
Three pair of thermal underwear
One paper-back Bible
Three magazines
One pack of playing cards or wooden dominoes
One small pack of loose leaf paper
One small box of enevelopes w/ stamps on them
One small hair brush (no handle)
