Sheriff Bryan Bailey was elected sheriff in 2011 and took office in January 2012. Bryan Bailey served Rankin County as the Undersheriff for the past 7 years.

Bryan Bailey began his law enforcement career in 1984 at the age of 17 when he joined the 113th Military Police Company in Brandon. After graduating Puckett High School in 1985 he attended college and obtained a bachelors degree in criminal justice in 1990. He began his career as a deputy sheriff following graduation from college. He has attended numerous law enforcement schools including the DEA Narcotics Investigator School, DEA Clandestine Laboratory School, the U.S. Customs Blue Lighting School and in 2009 graduated from FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The Sheriff's Department is the chief law enforcement agency in Rankin County. The Sheriff and his deputies respond to calls for emergency service, enforcing local ordinances, state and federal law, and maintaining a sense of tranquility by visibility in the communities they patrol. Thus they take responsibility for the safety and well being of all persons living in and visiting Rankin County.
